POSTNATAL CARE

After giving birth, the pelvic muscles and tissues are stretched, sore and swollen. In the days after your baby arrives, the KR Curve can be used externally as a soothing cold-pack: simply chill it in the fridge and then lay it against your vulva to help relieve pain and inflammation.

About six to eight weeks after delivery, you can begin to do perineal massage (be sure to get the all-clear from your doctor first). Postpartum massage of the perineal muscles may help you avoid hypertonia, a condition that occurs when there’s too much muscular tension. Hypertonia prevents the muscles from stretching and contracting normally, and that can spell trouble for your pelvic floor.
